FINGERPRINTS, DURTY MICK’S LURE MUSIC GEEKS DOWNTOWN TODAY

recordstoredayy

The usual suspects—coughAmeobacough—have been hosting Record Store Day throngs since the shopping holiday started in 2008, but on Saturday (read: tomorrow) morning (read: 6 a.m.) downtown Long Beach will be bustling with music geeks swarming to two new RSD stops.

Yes, Fingerprints has been a Long Beach record store staple for decades (and owner Rand Foster is one of the brainchildren behind RSD). But now it’s the new-and-improved Fingerprints, located in a larger, awesome-er location—the old Lyons building on 4th Street—and fans can expect even more.

In addition to the aforementioned 6 a.m. opening (next door, Berlin will be starting at 5 to caffeinate your wait), Fingerprints will be throwing the guys from Fucked Up behind the register starting at 2 p.m. and is giving Circle Jerk Keith Morris a 3:30 DJ set. The place will be closed from 5-8 for an already-sold-out-so-don’t-even-ask in-store from the freeking Foo Fighters (they’re taping up the windows so no lookie-loos either) and a 7 p.m. tickets-still-available-so-ask-nicely Brett Dennan in-store before opening back up at 8 so you can buy the rest.

One block away, the Torrance punk label-recently-turned-brick-and-mortar Durty Mick’s Records (403 E. 3rd Street, Long Beach, CA 90805) will also be celebrating its first Record Store Day in Downtown Long Beach. The Street Dogs’ Tobe Bean will be doing a DJ set from 1-3 and Durty Mick is digging deep into his own archives for four exclusive releases: Roger Miret and the Disasters “We’re Gonna Find A Way” 7″ (tri-color vinyl, limited to 100 copies), Agnostic Front/Discipline “Working Class Heroes” (2xLP limited to 500), Token Entry “The Re-Issue” (2xLP, limited to 500), and Left Alone/Deadly Sins “Split” 7″ (signed by the singers of each band, limited to 100 copies).

So wake up early and take advantage of Fingerprints’ bike valet, because in case you forgot, it’s Grand Prix weekend–parking will be nonexistent!
